Utrecht, Netherlands
We needed to see Maya's town. We spend the following two days in Utrecht. It is a beautiful little town, very much directed to students. In the morning we went to the Hospital as Maya needed to get checked for the accident she had couple of weeks before. Unfortunately Maya had a fall on her bike as we were heading to the hospital. After that we went to the center where there is a landmark called Dom Tower. It is medieval. It has 465 steps to get to the top. The view is supposed to be magnificent. Unfortunately it was a little cloudy so the view wasn't as great. There are 14 medieval swinging bells that are still rung today and 50 bells in the carillon. Later we went to the De Haar Castle. This castle belongs to the Rothschild family. The grounds are beautiful and the castle you can go in it to take a tour. The gardens can be used for a picnic as well.
The second day we biked around the town. Maya took us to the mall and a beautiful walk beside a river. We had a nice meal beside the river and we then headed to Amsterdam as we needed to take an early flight to Dublin to meet Jack.
